In the industrial automation sector, the wiring of an electrical panel plays a crucial role in the installation and efficient operation of the systems. In this article we are finally talking about the electrical wiring phase and specifically about robotic wiring for the construction of electrical panels.
What is wiring?
The term “wiring” refers to the arrangement and interconnection of electrical cables within a system or equipment.
It is therefore the process of connecting cables in an appropriate manner, to allow the transfer of electrical signals or the supply of energy between the different components of a system within an electrical panel or electrical cabinet.
Accurate and well-executed wiring allows the reliable transmission of electrical signals, the correct functioning and safety of industrial machines and systems.
As we have mentioned several times in previous articles, the construction of electrical panels is characterized by a high percentage of process costs. Many of which are concentrated precisely in the phase of specifying the wiring. Wiring an electrical panel requires a lot of time and resources.
How can we overcome this gap? Robotic electrical wiring machines.
Semi-automatic and fully automatic solutions for wiring wires offer a perfect solution, provided that the choice to automate this phase of the electrical panel construction process is contextualized in a broader digitalization process.
Because the use of automatic machines for wiring electrical panels requires good preparation at the digital data level.

The Kablator team supports panel builders with a specific service for the digitization of electrical diagrams.
Another phase that can be automated is cable assembly. The semi-automated, software-controlled wire preparation significantly accelerates production processes and at the same time guarantees the highest quality standards.
The solution that Kablator has developed for wiring is an automatic robotic machine that, thanks also to artificial vision (machine vision), allows, through a special gripper, to wire loose electrical components with push-in technology for those who carry out pre-wiring operations or to lay the wire along the channel, positioning it directly in front of the correct wiring point directly in the electrical panel.
Thanks to the machine vision guide, the robot inserts the wire into the channel, avoiding collision with the channel terminations themselves to facilitate positioning between the teeth and check the correct placement of the devices on the plate with respect to the electrical diagram.
Thus the electrical panel is ready for the final connection.
The set of automated processes structures a standardized work methodology that allows you to reach production goals that would otherwise be difficult to achieve.
The advantages are significant:
Reduction of work times: performing preliminary operations in a controlled environment allows you to speed up the actual wiring process, reducing installation times;
Minimization of errors: checking and preparing components reduces the risk of connection errors and improves system reliability;
Greater efficiency: well-organized and prepared wiring makes maintenance operations easier and reduces system downtime.
